You Have Seen Their Faces
July 19 - August 23, 2008
Gallery Luisotti is pleased to announce its upcoming summer exhibition, You Have Seen Their Faces. Featuring selected works by John Divola, Daido Moriyama, Mark Ruwedel, Henry Wessel, as well as a selection of amateur snapshots, the exhibition focuses on photographs of dogs and their unique place in modern life.
You Have Seen Their Faces is curated by Chris Balaschak for Gallery Luisotti. Once again Balaschak uses his cunning whit and knowledge of contemporary photography to amass a small but powerful selection of images exploring the contemporary portrail of mans “sometime” best friend as seen in the urban and desert landscape. From Daido Moriyama’s snarling “Stray Dog” and John Divola’s “Dog’s Chasing My Car In The Desert” to a hilarious assortment of vernacular canine photos, Balaschak leads the viewer down a road seldon traveled when initially thinking of an exhibition of dog photographs.
