Gallery Luisotti is pleased to announce the inclusion of John Divola and Christina Fernandez’s works in the new exhibition Golden State at the Marianne Boesky Gallery. Curated by Drew Sawyer, William J., and Sarah Ross Soter, the exhibition explores the diversity of urban and suburban experience in California, predominantly from the 1970s through the present day.
Golden State features the work of seven American artists—John Divola, Buck Ellison, Christina Fernandez, Anthony Hernandez, Catherine Opie, Larry Sultan, and Dorothea Lange—whose meticulously staged and documentary style images capture distinctions of class and economy and speak to individual and communal aspirations.
Photographs from Christina Fernandez’s 2002 series Lavanderia, which explore the intersections of public and private life among Latinos living in east Los Angeles through documentary style photographs, and John Divola’s images of suburbanites in his San Fernando Valley series from the early 1970s will be included in the show.
The exhibition will run through April 27, 2017 at 507 W. 24th Street, New York, NY.
