Milton Rogovin | San Jose Museum of Art

The San Jose Museum of Art will showcase the work of  Milton Rogovin in the exhibition Life and Labor: The Photographs of Milton Rogovin that comprises of thirty-eight black-and-white photographs by the American social documentary photographer. The photographs from the three series: “Lower West Side, Buffalo” (1972–84), “Working People” (1976–87), and “Family of Miners” (1988– 89) featuring the “forgotten ones,” as he called them, shed light on important social issues of the time—the plight of miners, the decline of the steel industry in upstate New York, and the everyday struggles of the poor and working class in Buffalo, New York, where he lived.
